Wolfram Alpha: everybody's online math genius

Wolfram Alpha

For all those who are having trouble with math, this site may just be the unexpected friend you are looking for. It has a simple input box where you just type in your problem, be it one about arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. Just give it a moment and it will give you answer that might even be more detailed than what you simply hoped for.

Of course Wolfram Alpha could have other mathematical talents hidden within the recesses of its algorithms and coding, but that would be for you to find out. So if you want a convenient, quick, and user-friendly mathematical problem solving online experience, then Wolfram Alpha is the way to go.

Engineering Toolbox: a handy place for budding engineers

Engineering Toolbox

As unbelievable as this may sound, the Engineering Toolbox website is not only for engineers, it is also for every common man, woman, girl, or boy, who just so happens to be an engineering student at the very least.

It offers a convenient compilation of data and formulae that are helpful to anyone studying engineering concepts. As the name implies, it’s a toolbox with things inside it that you might just need. Of course nothing can beat the prestige and reliability of a hardbound book, but for speedy calculations, Engineering Toolbox would suffice.

P.S.

Data here does not stray too far if at all from the actual values, you may just want to verify them independently if doubts linger in your heart.

Yahoo Mail: a glorious emblem of the past with a not so bright future

Yahoo Mail

In its olden days, Yahoo was a steady fixture in the lives of a good deal of people. You can’t register or subscribe for stuff without an e-mail address, and where else to get an e-mail address if not with Yahoo.

But alas, the present has clearly dawned upon the former behemoth, and is now struggling to come to terms with its corporate identity. Millions still rely on Yahoo for their e-mailing needs (but recent news of security breaches have left many doubting Yahoo’s general integrity). It should be considered that one of the reasons why Yahoo is still somewhat of a hot pick is its early stake in Alibaba, which now has a tremendous presence in China and elsewhere across the globe.

Public trust may very well be with Gmail right now, but having alternative accounts can come in handy every once in a while. As long as long someone provides, at least try to benefit.
